Velux

Introduced as part of a totally redesigned product line, the Velux deck-mounted product family has been designated The No Leak Skylight. The deck mounted skylights feature three layers of water protection, including a new gasket that seals to the roof deck. Developed to address homeowner and contractor perceptions that skylights can leak, the new line combines a number of time and money saving installation materials and methods, with an installation warranty that can be applied "even if we don’t install the skylight," company officials note. The product carries a 10-year installation warranty plus 20 years on glass, 10 years on skylights, and five years on blinds and controls. Other features include pre-painted frames and sash to eliminate the need for secondary high-cost trips by a painter, pre-mounted brackets for quick installation of sunscreen blinds, a lower roof profile with an updated curved architectural design, and a neutral gray color, preferred by consumers and builders to blend with most roof materials and colors. The manufacturer has also upgraded the line with advanced low-E glass for better energy efficiency, higher visible light transmittance, and improved solar heat gain performance, it notes.

A new series of Sun Tunnel skylights meets the energy efficiency criteria for federal tax credits of up to 30 percent of the purchase price, the supplier reports. Previously lines met Energy Star criteria, but the new line incorporates changes in the exterior dome to reduce the solar heat gain coefficient and an internal secondary diffuser assembly to reduce the U-factor. The result is a super efficient tubular skylight product that will benefit homeowners as well as dealers, the company reports.

Velux has expanded its solar water heating product line with the addition of gas backup solar systems and rack mounted collector systems. With the availability of gas backup systems, the manufacturer now has a solar water heating solution for both gas and electric markets, it reports. While Velux focuses on roof integrated collector systems with the same low profile look and performance as its skylights and roof windows, the rack mounted systems allow Velux solar collectors to be mounted on flat roofs, metal roofs, reverse pitch applications, or any other situation where roof integration is not feasible, it states.

Folding door systems from Weiland are offered for openings up to 13 1/2 feet in height with individual panel widths up to 5 feet (depending on configuration). YKK AP

Developed to be architecturally-correct, Precedence replacement windows are said to mimic the look and styling of wood windows without sacrificing the performance and low maintenance of a vinyl window.
