Have a plan for a construction defect crisis

TIP OF THE WEEK

Tip of the Week logo

Typing “construction defect” in a Google search creates several million hits. Owners, general contractors and attorneys throughout the country are turning to litigation to attempt to solve water infiltration claims. When water claims are made, window and door manufacturers are inevitably included in the target list. Failing to plan ahead for claims, some of which may be huge and national in scope can cause a manufacturer to close its doors.

Have an answer for these questions: How many windows and doors have you supplied throughout the United States? Elsewhere? How many units went to a single owner, hotel chain, or other extensive development? What climates and regions are your windows installed in? What type of construction are your windows installed in?

It is important to have a team in place well in advance of any crisis in order to manage, effectively respond to, and beat any crisis.
