General information: Started in 1966, Patio Enclosures was acquired by the GDIC Group, a Cleveland-based private equity firm, in 2011. Under the Great Day Improvements banner, the company has moved to become a full service remodeling firm, with Patio Enclosures as a leading brand. At the beginning of 2013, Great Day added Stanek Windows, a Cleveland-based vinyl replacement window manufacturer. The company plans to move Stanek manufacturing to the 200,000-square-foot Patio Enclosures facility in Macedonia. With the addition of Stanek Windows’ retail operations in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida, Great Day now operates 20 locations around the country, in addition to 10 franchise operations and a number of dealer locations.

New product introductions: Taylor introduced several new products in 2013, including adjustable hinge steel doors, stainable steel doors, light commercial products, 8-foot steel doors, smooth and wood grain fiberglass doors, and a 90-minute fire-rated steel frame.
General information: Taylor Entrance Systems was acquired at the end of 2012 by Wausau Supply Co., a distributor of building products based in Schofield, Wis. Under the new Taylor Entrance Systems name, the company manufactures its line of steel edge doors, including its oak-grained stainable steel line. Taylor also distributes a line of fiberglass doors, as well as door components such as door jambs, heavy gauge aluminum door cladding, hinges, sills and glass.

General information: Vista operates two production facilities, with its newest location and corporate headquarters in Lordstown, Ohio, dedicated to replacement window and insulating glass manufacturing. The second facility is focused on bay and bow window production, exterior color products and patio doors. Vista also manufactures products for distribution west of the Rocky Mountains and south of the Mason-Dixon line through a joint venture with Simonton Windows, producing these products in Simonton’s Illinois window plant.
