The Fenestration Manufacturers Association will focus on sharing best practices with a series of roundtable discussions between suppliers, manufacturers and other industry experts at its upcoming spring conference, scheduled for April 23-25.  The event, which will take place at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front Hotel in Pensacola, Fla., will also look to provide insights on where the industry is moving in the future.
“So much of the way our industry does business has changed with the downturn,” explains Dick Wilhelm, FMA’s executive director. “We have focused our conference this year on opening the door to communication and information sharing. We’re providing the valuable insight on a variety of topics that can only come with a focus group approach—and this is in addition to the technical updates we regularly provide at our events in the arenas of energy codes, emerging standards and installation/flashing practices.”
Topics scheduled for roundtable-style discussions include a session entitled “This is not your father’s market anymore” and another exploring supplier/manufacturer relationships and how suppliers can effectively position their products against competitors’ offerings in front of manufacturers.
Jon Hill of Keystone Certifications and John McFee of Hallmark Certifications are slated to explore ways in which manufacturers can meet emerging and existing challenges in the testing and product performance arena and Doug Harvey, executive director of the Building Officials Association of Florida, will explain to attendees how plans reviewers will scrutinize updates pertaining to ASCE 7-10 wind load design.
Christina Lewellen, senior editor of Window & Door, will wrap-up the presentation sessions with a look at where the window and door industry is headed. She will also lead a discussion on the future of the industry among attendees.
The event also consolidates a cocktail reception with the organization’s Supplier Showcase event, during which attendees will be eligible for a number of give-away prizes. Always an energetic crowd, the FMA conference also offers a number of warm-weather networking activities and a dinner and awards banquet at the hotel.
