Where Are You Investing?

When reviewing the news for the upcoming August issue of Window & Door, I was struck by the number of acquisitions that have taken place in our industry over the past 60 days. By my count, there have been at least 11 deals made since late May, among manufacturers and distributors alike. On a national level, there was Sierra Pacific Industries’ purchase of Hurd Windows and Doors. At the regional level: ABC Supply’s buyout of window and door distributor Dealers Service & Supply. And the list goes on…and on.

Reading through the acquisition announcements, a common theme emerges: everyone, regardless of their position in the supply chain, is looking to improve customers’ experience. And oftentimes, this requires a financial investment. Where are you investing your money? Is it in acquisitions to expand your product offerings or geographic territory? New equipment to shorten lead times? Additional sales people to improve customer relations? Please take this week’s poll and share your thoughts.
