Are You Giving More?

THE TALK...

Last week, Window World announced a campaign to raise more than $1 million in the coming year for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I know that this is just one of many examples of generous corporate giving in our industry, as companies throughout the country support everything from local baseball teams to national non-profit organizations and charitable causes.

My question is whether you think that corporate giving is on the upswing. Are we giving back at greater levels in 2013 as we move farther away from the Great Recession? Is your company creeping higher in its donations—whether monetary or in products and services—compared to last year?

I’d love to hear stories of how you’re giving back, especially if you were committed to maintaining your company’s charitable giving strategy throughout the economic downturn. Please send me an email or post a comment below.

It's tough to be charitable when you're doing all you can to keep your doors open. We may be moving away from the Great Recession on the calender, but I talk to people in construction every day and I don't hear a lot of optimism out there. Although remodeling has picked up, the industry is really driven by new construction which is still in a depression. My hat's off to those who are still finding a way to give back to their communities in these difficult times.
