In a Nov. 15 letter to customers, officials from AGC Glass Company North America announced price increases on its various primary glass products, both annealed and tempered. “As we continue to see economic recovery in North America, and the global capacity challenges facing our industry, AGC, like all of you, is facing cost pressures on essential components driving our business operations,” officials said in the letter.

Effective Dec. 9, prices for clear and tinted glass will rise 10 percent. Prices for the company’s Energy Select low-emissivity products will see a 7 percent increase, and Comfort Select low-E products will see a 5 percent increase. Prices for Krystal Klear, patterned glasses and wired Matalux glasses will rise 5 percent.

Energy and freight surcharges are independent of pricing, and AGC will notify customers in writing of changes in quarterly surcharges, according to the letter.
