AFG Glass is shutting down its Cinnaminson, NJ, float plant due to the decreased demand from the slipping housing market, says Brad Kitterman, president and CEO. Production was scheduled to cease on or before February 5.

“With the housing market forecast to drop significantly in 2007, we felt we had no alternative other than reducing our capacity for thin, clear, commodity glass,” Kitterman says. “This will allow us to continue full production at our other plants.”

AFG officials are meeting with Cinnaminson plant employees to work out future options, and all customers have been notified of the stop in production.
