Following up on the purchase of Allsco Building Products in New Brunswick last month, the Atis Group Inc. has added Vinylbilt Window Systems based in Vaughan, Ont., according to a report in the Montreal Gazzette.  With the latest addition, the Montreal-based Atis now has 11 plants across Canada, employing 1,800 people.

Vinylbilt manufactures vinyl windows and doors, focusing on the residential replacement market primarily.  With a network of 250 dealers, the company strengthens the Atis Group's presence in the Ontario market, officials point out.  According to the company Web site, Vinylbilt operates a 165,000-square-foot facility that includes an in-house painting line, glass production and custom bending.  In addition to its Canadian base, it also serves markets in New York, Michigan and Ohio.

With several operations based in Quebec, the Atis Group first expanded into Western Canada several years ago with the addition of manufacturing operations in British Columbia and Alberta.  More recently, the Window & Door Top 100 manufacturer acquired Allsco Building Products, based in Moncton,  N.B., to expand its presence in the Canada's Maritime provinces.

The addition of Vinylbilt  expands the Atis Group's presence in Ontario, but the deal also gives Vinylbilt access to new markets, new products and exceptional cross-selling opportunities, Atis officials told the newspaper.
