Las Vegas—Thousands of building industry professionals are gathering for the International Builders' Show, which opened here yesterday. Buoyed by the improving outlook in both the new construction and remodeling markets, a more optimistic mood is evident among exhibitors and attendees throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The number of window and door manufacturers bringing products to display at IBS remains down from the show's peak years, but there remains much to see.  The following snapshots highlight some of the products being featured by manufacturers and suppliers at this year's event.  Look for a more complete report in time for next week's WDweekly.

While fewer of the largest window and door manufacturers are exhibiting at IBS in the past, a few continue to feature large booths with a wide variety of products on display. Ply Gem is using the show to introduce its new 1500 System window series. The company is also hosting various seminars on such topics as window installation and the market outlook.

Jeld-Wen is also in Las Vegas, featuring a wide variety of its door and window products.

Among the products featured in the Kolbe & Kolbe booth was a new corner lift-and-slide door system.

This year's event suggests many see continued growth opportunities in large-opening, multi-panel door systems.  Among the companies featuring such products was Panda Windows & Doors.

The Folding Sliding Door Co. was another exhibitor featuring a variety of multi-panel door units.

Royal Building Products featured its Overture bi-folding vinyl door system.

Not all the emphasis is on multi-panel systems. Entry and patio doors are also being featured by several large exhibitors, including Plastpro, Masonite and Therma-Tru.

Velux is also at IBS featuring a wide variety of skylights.

A handful of suppliers of door and window components are also exhibiting at this year's show.  ODL is featuring its new On Hand in-door storage and messaging unit.

Hornschuch is featuring its laminate films for vinyl windows and other products.

Jamsill is at the show highlighting its sill pan flashing for window and door installation.
