Cardinal Glass plans to end production of coated window glass at its Norfthield, Minn., plant and shift to glass targeted at the renewable energy industry, according to a July 8 report in the Northfield News. Company officials would not elaborate further on plans, it was noted.

The newspaper notes that most of the plant's 90 employees will have to re-apply for jobs with the changeover, with 27 workers expected to be laid off.  The new product line requires less handling than coated glass products for the window and door industry, according to the Cardinal plant manager quoted in the story.
