CMI has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Illinois Flush Door Co. in Plainfield, Ill. The move expands CMI’s CraftMaster Door Division, which includes door assembly plants in Christiansburg, Va.; Ozark, Ala.; and Garland, Texas. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1944, Illinois Flush Door manufactures and distributes a full line of interior doors in a variety of styles, finishes and materials for the residential and commercial building markets. “Illinois Flush Door has been a long term CraftMaster customer who we are happy to welcome fully into CMI,” says Bob Merrill, CMI president and CEO. “The location is able to serve door customers in the Midwest and expand the penetration of the CraftMaster brand. In addition, their extensive machining capabilities and expertise in the commercial door markets will aid us in growing our market share.”

“We are pleased to continue our heritage of independence with a focused company known for its quality products and unmatched service protocol,” adds Howard Murphy, general manager of the Plainfield operation. “We feel fortunate that we will be joining a company that has long admired our reputation for quality and will work with us to continue to meet the needs of builders, remodeler and architects.”

In addition to its four door manufacturing plants, CMI's operations also include its Towanda, Pa., which manufactures CraftMaster door facings, which it supplies to its own door assembly plants as well as independent door makers.  CMI is also a partner in a door facing manufacturing facility in China.
