Crystal Finishing Systems, a supplier of aluminum extrusions, and fabrication and finishing services based in Schofield, Wis., has purchased the former Weather Shield Manufacturing facility in Mosinee, Wis. The 677,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, along with more than 800,000 square feet of existing operations in Schofield, Weston and River Falls, Wis., will support Crystal Finishing Systems' growth plans for years to come, officials state.

“Thanks to the long history of doing business with the Schield family, a deal has been reached to purchase one of the finest manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin," states Mark Matthiae, Crystal president.  "This transaction will allow many good-paying manufacturing jobs to come back into Central Wisconsin. With current customer commitments, along with a growing list of potential clients, Crystal Finishing Systems looks to double our business over the next three years. This growth would not be possible without the additional facilities and new equipment installations."

Building modifications and equipment installations are expected to begin in June, with production at the Mosinee site to begin in December of 2013. Initial plans are to install another extrusion press in Mosinee by the end of the year, followed up by additional capabilities in early 2014. Part of the Mosinee facility will be available for lease to other manufacturers and/or for warehousing needs.

Crystal Finishing offers a variety of architectural finishing services for aluminum and plastic products, and services a number of window and door manufacturers, including Jeld-Wen, Kolbe & Kolbe, and Lincoln Windows, as well as Weather Shield.  "With the latest in technology and automation updates throughout our facilities, we have become one of the most comprehensive suppliers in the industries we serve," Matthiae states.
