Flushing, N.Y.-based Crystal Window & Door Systems entered into a licensing agreement with Sashlite LLC for the use of its patented vinyl window insulating glass technology. In a separate move, Crystal has also acquired Sashlite-specific tooling and equipment and established agreements with Sashlite strategic partners H.B. Fuller and Sash Systems, the manufacturer reports.

“Establishing these relationships is the first step in building a bright new future for Crystal,” says Thomas Chen, Crystal’s founder and president. “Crystal’s use of Sashlite’s innovative spacer technology will offer our window dealers, distributors and homeowners many, many advantages, not the least of which are industry leading energy efficiency ratings and spacer aesthetics. Sashlite will be a key component of Crystal Windows’ continued future growth and success.”

The moves open the door for Crystal to introduce vinyl windows incorporating Sashlite technology in the coming months, the manufacturer states. The acquired tooling and equipment is at Crystal's Queens headquarters factory and is being readied for production there.

Designed for vinyl windows, Sashlite technology eliminates the common practice of fabricating separate insulating glass units in favor of simply glazing glass panes directly to an integrated spacer window sash profile. Crystal foresees the new technology offering many manufacturing and consumer advantages. Products utilizing Sashlite technology simplify and reduce production costs and offer high performance levels in terms of U-Value, warm-edge ratings, condensation resistance, structural strength and visual aesthetics, officials state.
