January 28, 2014
Jeld-Wen will close its Dubuque, Iowa, wood fiber production plant, March 28. The facility's 52 employees have been invited to transfer to other Jeld-Wen operations, including the company's door and window manufacturing facilities in Grinnell, Iowa, according to a Jeld-Wen release.
Jeld-Wen acquired the Dubuque operation in 1978, where it produced pressed wood‐fiber material that is used in the construction of interior doors. The window and door manufacturer has ample production capacity at other wood‐fiber operations in the United States to continue meeting customer needs, it reports.
