Jeld-Wen Inc. is closing its vinyl window and patio door plant in Corsicana, Texas, according to a report in the Corsicana Daily Sun.  Operations at the facility are expected to end September 25, with about 90 workers losing their jobs.

“The biggest factor in this closure is a reduced demand for windows in both the new construction and remodeling markets,” Rick Hetherington, senior vice president for Jeld-Wen, told the newspaper. “With nationwide new home starts hovering at their lowest levels in 30 years, closing the Corsicana plant became a necessary but very difficult business decision."

Based in Klamath Falls, Ore., Jeld-Wen has window and door manufacturing facilities throughout the country.  Weak markets, however, have led the company to close numerous operations over the past two years, including plants in Georgia, California, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
