Jeld-Wen Inc. is planning to close a pre-hanging and distribution facility in North Wilkesboro, N.C., in March. The facility, acquired by the door and window manufacturer in 2006, employs about 60 people.

The facility is closing because Jeld-Wen has shifted the door prehanging and distribution business it had at the North Carolina facility to a wholesale customer in the Southeast, explains Teri Cline, a company spokeswoman.

The manufacturer doesn't typically provide details on changes in distribution arrangements, she notes, but Phil Orsino, the company's president said in an interview with ProSales Magazine at last week's International Builders' Show that the Oregon-based company plans to stop distributing products itself and work with large regional distributors.
