Tempe, Ariz.-based residential window and door maker Jordan Co. is closing, according to the company Web site and published reports.

The company did not immediately return calls for comment, but the company Web site has been changed to a single page reading “We are sorry for the inconvenience but Jordan Company (Jordan Windows and Doors) is no longer in business.”

The Phoenix Business Journal reported that the company had notified the state Department of Economic Security that it planned to lay off its 113 employees.  The newspaper report indicated that company is liquidating and does not plan to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Jordan announced the closing of its Memphis, Tenn. window and door plant in September, with plans to sell its aluminum extrusion business their to a new entity. It had also signed a memorandum of understanding for its Western division, based in Tempe, acquired by Younger Brothers Windows Co. LLC.
