With its official opening on Monday, Affinity Windows Inc. has kicked off production, serving dealers and distributors in the Northeast. Based in Bensalem, Pa., the replacement window maker is being started by industry veterans Craig Seller and John Pieczkolon.

Housed in a 20,000-square-foot facility, Affinity operates a modern fabrication site with mostly all new equipment, Seller reports. It currently has 10 employees with plans to grow to as many as 25 workers. Focusing on replacement products to start, Affinity plans to serve customers within a four hour drive of its Pennsylvania plant.

Seller, the founder and one-time president of Accu-Weld LLC, has had a long career in the window business. His father, Jerry Seller, started Dakim Manufacturing Inc., an aluminum replacement window manufacturing company in the mid '60s. That company eventually changed its name to Air Master and became one of the leading replacement and commercial window manufacturing companies on the East Coast.

In 1974, Jerry Seller passed away and Craig continued the operation in his father's footsteps. In 1981, Seller decided to enter the vinyl window business by starting Accu-Weld, which grew to 350 employees with annual sales approaching $40 million. He left the business when Accu-Weld was sold in 2008, but decided to get “back in the game” after a three-year hiatus. "Our industry is on the upswing," Seller states, "and this is a great time to get back into the window business."

The new company is partnering with Deceuninck Inc., Guardian industries and Ashland Hardware Systems for its product line. In the past, Sellers  notes, he had been involved in extrusion and IG production. "We're leaving that to the experts, and focusing on fabrication," he states, describing Affinity as a "small, tight operation."

That approach will enable the company to provide a high-end product at a competitive price, he continues. More dealers are looking to offer higher-end products with value-added features, which will create many opportunities for the new company, Seller states.
