The NSG Group, which sells glass to the window and door market under the Pilkington brand name, has decided to reduce its float glass production capacity in North America. One of the two float lines at its plant in Laurinburg, N.C., will be idled.

This process is expected to be completed later this year, between August and September, according to a company release. It is intended that production will recommence on this line when market conditions permit.

NSG is taking action to reduce capacity and output to match the requirements of its customers, officials report. As many as 75 people will be laid off at the float glass plant, according to a July 11 report from The Laurinburg Exchange.
