Swedish door components producer Assa Abloy purchased Pemko Manufacturing in a deal announced February 1. The worldwide parent company did not disclose the terms of the acquisition.

Pemko, based in Ventura, CA, designs and manufactures components for sealing doors. The company was founded in 1952 and currently has about 330 employees.

“The acquisition of Pemko brings into Assa Abloy a well recognized and highly respected producer of door components,” says Thanasis Molokotos, head of the company’s Americas division. “The Pemko product line is complementary to our existing product offerings and distribution channels.”

Pemko, with 2006 sales reported at approximately $55 million, joins a number of U.S. companies involved in both the commercial and residential door and hardware markets in the Assa Abloy portfolio. They include Adams Rite Manufacturing, Ceco Door Products, Corbin Russwin, Emtek Products, Graham Manufacturing, Interlock USA, Medeco High Security Locks, Norton Door Controls, Sargent Manufacturing and Yale.
