Santelli Tempered Glass Inc., a Pennsylvania-based supplier to residential window manufacturers, plans to open a new tempering facility in Elkhart, Ind.  The company plans to invest more than $3.7 million to lease and equip a 32,500 square-foot facility, according to officials with the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

"Elkhart is perfectly situated between major glass areas of Toledo and Chicago, both with large residential window manufacturers which is the prime market for our tempered glass," says Joseph Santelli, Santelli Tempered Glass CEO.

Founded in 2006, the company employs 45 people at its current facilities in Monessen, Pa., and Ocala, Fla.  With operations expected to start up at the Indiana plant in July, Santelli says the new facility could employ up to 35 people by 2013.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $250,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. The city of Elkhart will provide an additional property tax abatement at the request of the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart County.

"Companies continue to demonstrate that Elkhart is a prime location for manufacturing and distribution. We are excited that Santelli Tempered Glass will be joining our community and assisting with the recovery of our economy," says Mayor Dick Moore.
