Stone River Bronze, the manufacturer of high-end hardware, is changing its corporate and product brand name to Nobilus. Acquired by Hoppe North America Inc. in 2005, the Corrine, UT-based company was founded in 1997 and supplies products to a number of window and door manufacturers, including Marvin Windows & Doors.

The motivation behind the name change is a desire to expand the company’s manufacturing expertise, says Curtis Wiemann, Nobilus president and CEO. Under the new name, the operation plans to offer a wider palette of materials and sophisticated architectural styles for the high-end commercial and home building/remodeling market. With a breadth of offerings that now include Craftsman, contemporary and rustic styles in addition to more ornate designs, the name Stone River Bronze simply became too limiting, he notes.

“We will continue to push the boundaries of inspirational hardware design at every level—from style ranges, material options and manufacturing capabilities, right down to the service we provide to our distribution partners, design professionals and customers,” Wiemann continues.

The company derived the new name from the Latin word nobilis, which is defined as “possessing outstanding qualities.” The company will use the name Nobilus publicly for the first time at the
Kitchen & Bath Show held in Las Vegas, May 8-10, where a number of key product designs also will be highlighted.

“The name is symbolic of the high goals we’ve set for our products and our company’s future,” says Wiemann. “With support from Hoppe and given current market trends that are placing so much emphasis on architectural hardware styling, we have a great opportunity to be on the forefront of category innovation.”

Founded in 1997 as Stone River Bronze, the company has grown in the luxury hardware market, thanks to a highly sophisticated manufacturing process that achieves finely wrought custom details. It uses a ceramic molding process instead of typical sand casting, which is said to allow for extremely precise design representation that other bronze hardware manufacturers rarely achieve.

As part of the Hoppe family of companies, Nobilus has built a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Utah, increased employment and expanded product offerings and distribution. The company is focused on becoming a leader in sustainable hardware manufacturing, adopting many of Europe’s environmentally friendly practices.
