Tru Tech Doors, a Canadian door manufacturer, today formally announced its expansion into the U.S. market, with plans to host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new facility in Fredericksburg, Va. The new division is known as Tru Tech USA.

The location was previously occupied by Therma Tru Corp.  As previously reported, after the Virginia operation was closed, an auctioneer selling the production equipment and facility contacted Tru Tech, which was looking for a U.S. base to service customers on the East Coast. “We have been enjoying strong growth, despite the recession, so we felt it was the right time to take our product to the U.S.,” says John Careri, president, CEO and founder of Tru Tech Doors.

Tru Tech purchased the facility and equipment, and hired many of the experienced employees who were scheduled to lose their jobs. By hiring the skilled staff, Tru Tech will ensure the production of quality steel-edge doors and steel frames from day one, officials note. It is expected that the number of employees will increase to 200 over the next two years as production grows.

Launched in 1998, Tru Tech Doors produces more than 250,000 residential and industrial door products a year at three facilities in the Toronto area.

“We want to give our customers a real alternative to what’s on the market today,“ Careri notes. “We are confident that once a customer sees our doors with their distinctive mouldings, premium paint finish, unique glass inserts and custom hardware, they will make it their preferred door.”
