Wausau Supply Co. is the latest building supplies distributor to select TDCI’s Buy Design product configurator and guided selling software, the supplier reports.  The distributor will use the software to provide dealers with online quoting and ordering capabilities for the company’s assembled and fabricated products, including pre-hung exterior and interior door systems, custom shutters, and siding products.

Wausau Supply serves retail lumber yards from eleven distribution locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and Kansas. Based in Wausau, Wis., the distributor is among the largest privately-held companies headquartered in that state.

Its new software will be integrated with Wausau Supply’s Infor ERP SX.enterprise business system and other existing systems, TDCI reports.  The distributor will use the BuyDesign Channel Sales quoting and ordering application along with the BuyDesign product configurator initially. In later phases, Wausau Supply will use the configurator embedded within SX.enterprise order entry, and will use BuyDesign Build-Your-Own as a consumer tool for visualizing custom products, it is noted.  Infor and TDCI will jointly support the integrated solution as part of a recently-announced expanded relationship between the two software providers.

“Deployment of BuyDesign is part of our strategy to provide dealers and customers with the best value-added services in the industry in order to save them time and money, and to make it very easy for them to do business with us,” says Joe Jordan, Wausau Supply president.

“We selected BuyDesign over the other solutions we looked at because it has the flexibility to handle a wide range of products, and because their integration strategy enables us to smoothly incorporate it into our overall systems environment," adds Mike Stelzl, Wausau IT/applications manager. "We also like the idea of having a single focal point for support as a result of the close working relationship between Infor and TDCI.”

“Wausau Supply is an experienced user of product configuration tools, so we’re very pleased that they have selected BuyDesign as the platform for their next generation of configurator-based applications,” says Dan DeMuth, TDCI president. “We’re excited about the growing number of building supply distributors and manufacturers within our customer community. We hope to help facilitate the sharing of ideas and approaches among them.”

Other leading building supply distributors using BuyDesign include Huttig Building Products, Moss Supply, and Benbilt Building Systems. Window and door manufacturers using TDCI's software include Atrium Windows & Doors, Ceco Door, Eggers Industries, Quaker Windows, Thermo-Tech Windows, Therma-Tru Doors and others, it reports.
