With new investors acquiring the assets of Wellington Window & Door in February, the Minnesota-based manufacturer and installer has been re-opened as Wellington Home Improvements. The owners of the new venture include Brent Woods, son of Wellington's founders, according to an article in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

"Wellington Home Improvements will continue to provide all around exceptional quality in the area of windows and doors from consultation, manufacturing to installation," a message on the company website reads. "We have expanded our services to include multiple home improvement products and services. Products now include roofing, siding, soffit and fascia, gutters, doors, and of course, the famous Wellington Windows."

Headquartered in Minneapolis, the company continues to operate locations servicing the Minneapolis, Milwaukee and Chicago areas, it is noted. The new businss also plans to honor product warranties on behalf of the original Wellington Window company, reflecting its "commitment to all customers past, present and future."

The local business newspaper reports that the vinyl window maker was struggling as a result of the recession, but had lined up an investor to help keep it afloat. That investor then died last November in a helicopter crash, which forced the company to liquefy its assets.
