Glass/Window Repair Company Seeking to Expand

July 1, 2008
The Glass Guru, a window restoration and replacement firm based in Sacramento, Calif., is looking to expand and has started offering franchise opportunities in 28 states. Established in 2004, the company got started by developed a micro-venting system designed to remove moisture and restore failed insulating glass units. It began offering glass and window replacement and services such as water spot and scratch removal to homeowners in 2006.

In 2007, it began offering Glass Guru franchises, and grew from its original one location to nine locations in four states. Its goal for 2008 is to add another 16 for a total of 25 by year-end, reports Dan Frey, founder and CEO.

The company says that restoring windows, as compared to replacing them, can save the homeowner half the cost and time. The process is also environmentally-friendly, it points out, because no windows are sent to landfills.

The Glass Guru offers franchises with fees from $15,000 to $40,000, depending on territory size and range, and requires no industry experience or shop location. Its most recent addition is its first franchisee in Michigan, as well as its first international franchise in Dublin, Ireland.
