International Conference to Spotlight Latest in Glass Technology

The 11th annual Glass Performance Days, to run June 12-15, in Tampere, Finland, will gather specialists from around the world to examine new glass and solar technologies and trends related to energy efficiency and renewable energy. The event will feature more than 300 presentations from researchers and industry experts from Europe, Asia, North America and beyond.
Organized by Glaston Corp., a supplier of glass processing equipment, the biennial event kicks off with a panel of solar industry experts, who will look at how an annual 40 percent growth rate seen in the solar business is impacting the glass industry and how glass manufacturers and processors can prepare for this expanding opportunity.
The biennial event in Finland attracts hundreds of glass researchers and industry executives
from all parts of the globe.
The event will also include numerous speakers examining new window technologies and trends in the use of high-performance products to meet increased demand for reductions in carbon emissions in countries around the globe. Topics to be addressed include vacuum insulating glass, integrated sash production, insulating glass durability, new glazing methods, and the development and evolution of standards and requirements in various countries around the world.
North American presenters scheduled to participate include Jim Benney of the National Fenestration Rating Council, Joe Erb of Edgetech I.G., Werner Lichtenberger of Truseal Technologies, Russell Pylkki of Aspen Research and Stephen Selkowitz of Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories. Representatives from international companies, such as AGC Flat Glass, Bystronic, Dow Corning, Sika and Velux, will also be addressing various issues related to the production and performance of window and glass products.
