The Northeast Window & Door Association recently hosted its summer conference in Harrisburg, Pa. Highlights included a presentation from sales expert Richard Farrell and tours of a nearby PPG Industries factory.

Richard Farrell shared his thoughts on improving the sales approach in today's building products marketplace.

Farrell, president of Tangent Knowledge Systems, a sales training and development firm, shared his insights on improving the sales approach in today's building products marketplace. Also speaking at the conference was Michael Collins of Building Industry Advisors, who offered a much improved, yet still not fully assured, forecast for the future. Technical speakers included Joe Reed of Architectural Testing, Wayne and Brenda Breighner of Materials Testing, and Brad Boone of PPG Industries.

Attendees toured PPG's Carlisle, Pa., facility, which occupies well over 1 million square feet of enclosed space and produces float glass, low-E coated glass, tempered glass and insulating glass.

“I am quite pleased with the success of the meeting,” says Steve Chen, executive vice president of Crystal Windows and NWDA president. “All the speakers were informative and relevant, the PPG glass factory tour impressive and fascinating, and despite the hot weather, everyone enjoyed the golf outing. Through events like these, NWDA provides information and guides manufacturer and affiliate members to success in today’s challenging fenestration industry. I encourage everyone to come out to our next member conference, the winter meeting in January.”

The annual event is scheduled for January 27-28, 2014 at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Ct.  More information is available on the NWDA website.
