WDMA Sets Program for Technical Conference

The Window & Door Manufacturers Association has announced an agenda for its 14th Technical Conference, scheduled for June 26-28 in Bloomington, Minn. Highlighted by a tour of Cardinal Glass Industries manufacturing facilities, the event will feature three days of speakers, tabletop sessions and technical meetings.
Kicking off the presentations will be a session led by Joe Lstibrueck, a leading building science consultant. Corey Brinkema wil offer an update on the Forest Stewardship Council, including a look at its plans for the future. Also on the first day's agenda is Steve Waltman of Stiles Machinery, who will offer an overview of new European manufacturing technologies.
Day two of the event will include the tour of Cardinal in the morning. Afternoon speakers will include Tracy Rogers of Quanex Building Products, who will discuss the effects of #4 surface low-E coatings on fenestration condensation resistance, and Jeff Baker of WestLab and a consultant with Fenestration Canada, who will offer an update on Canadian codes. They will be followed b y Helen Sanders of Sage Electrochromics who will the potential of dynamic glazing products on windows. Finally, Claus Staalner of C.S. Industries will discuss the use of thermally-treated wood in Europe.
The final day will feature WDMA's Jeff Inks, who will look at future trends in green building and Kerry Haglund of the University of Minnesota's Center for Sustainable Building Research will offer an update on the Efficient Windows Collaborative. WDMA's Jeff Lowinski will also offer an update on architectural door technologies.
The event, which will include a trip to a baseball game between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox at Target Field, will be held at the Hotel Sofitel Minneapolis in Bloomington, Minn. Registration is now open at WDMA's meeting website.
