Crystal Window & Door Systems marked the completion of its 20th year of operation on May 15. Started two decades ago by Taiwanese-American immigrant Thomas Chen with a small Queens, N.Y., operation fabricating aluminum windows, the company celebrated its anniversary milestone in numerous ways over the past 12 months, culminating in a grand 800-guest gala banquet attended by employees and their families.

N.Y. State Senator Frank Padavan (second from left) presented a Senate proclamation recognizing Crystal’s 20th Anniversary to Steve Chen, Crystal executive vice president (far left) and Thomas Chen, founder (second from right). Also in the photo is Grace Meng, a N.Y.  State Assemblywoman.

The company, now a Window & Door Top 100 manufacturer, operates production facilities in New York, Chicago and Missouri, a national sales and distribution network, and international activities. Crystal has also expanded beyond windows to establish operations in building products such as fencing, solar panels and aluminum extrusion and finishing.

The company's 20-year milestone was formally recognized with special citations from the Queens Borough President, the New York State Senate, the New York City Mayor and the U.S. House of Representatives. Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Congressman Gary Ackerman had May 15, 2010, proclaimed as Crystal Windows Day in the Borough of Queens, the City of New York, and the entire nation, respectively, the company reports.

“The 20th anniversary milestone is indeed a happy occasion for Crystal Windows,” says Thomas Chen, president and founder of the company. “I would be remiss if I didn’t note the two most important factors that have driven our past two decades of success and will drive our future success in the decades to come. All of this would not have been possible without the support of all our truly wonderful customers and the efforts of our dedicated employees. They are the best in the world and I thank each and every one of them.”
