December 10, 2013
National Fuel Gas Co. will pay $7.5 million to customers and homeowners in Western New York as part of a settlement with the State Public Service Commission for earning excessive profits. Of that total, $3.72 million will be refunded to residential customers and $1.75 million will go toward weatherization upgrades for low-income residential ratepayers, which will be administered by the state’s EmPower program. The program provides funding for such things as new doors, energy-efficient windows and insulation, according to a Buffalo News report.
