In 2011, Simonton Windows is marking its 65th anniversary, and according to Mark Savan, president, the Parkersburg, W.Va.-based vinyl window manufacturer will be emphasizing its capabilities to meet homeowner needs for aesthetically-pleasing windows that also offer high levels of energy efficiency.

“The advances in technology over the past 65 years have dramatically increased the efficiencies and aesthetic appeal of vinyl windows," Savan says. “During this time span, we’ve seen the introduction of impact-resistant windows that meet strict coastal codes in addition to vinyl windows with extreme energy efficiency features, such as the R-5 window. Homeowners can now order vinyl windows with realistic woodgrain interiors and a multitude of color options. You can even select vinyl windows with the look of traditional brickmould styling to complement a home. The versatility, beauty, comfort, durability and dependability of vinyl windows are simply unmatched.”

With such options as external colors, interior woodgrains and decorative hardware finishes, “homeowners are becoming more excited about their window selections,” the Simonton executive suggests. “I’m not sure that 65 years ago anyone would have dreamt that vinyl windows would have so many options.”

Looking at the current window market, Saven adds, "The knowledge level among consumers about energy efficient windows and doors skyrocketed in 2009 and 2010 thanks to the federal energy tax credit. Now—in addition to increasing comfort and lower energy bills—homeowners are seeing that vinyl windows can enhance the overall beauty of the home when stylized with various interior and exterior color options, grids and special features.

“Over the last 65 years our company has been making lasting impressions on builders, remodelers and homeowners,” Savan concludes. "Today we’re looking toward the future and saying ‘what’s next’ for the continuing evolution of vinyl windows and patio doors.”
