With its current lease set to expire in 2009, Harvey Industries has purchased a 30-acre site in Chicopee, Mass., for $1.8 million. The company plans to build a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to replace its current building located in Springfield, Mass., though plans for groundbreaking are not yet definitive.

The window and door manufacturer does, however, expect a construction timetable of about 15 months. The company will retain its warehouse and distribution center in Springfield, as well as production facilities in Waltham, Mass., and Manchester, N.H. It will also expand this summer into a 350,000-square-foot facility in Londonderry, N.H.

"We are excited about the added capacity to serve the marketplace and new state of the art facilities for our employees to work in," says Jim Barreira, executive vice president and general manager.

The manufacturer expects to keep much of its current Springfield workforce, calling for about 230 positions at the future plant.
