Everett, Wash.-based Crystalite Inc. reports it is the first manufacturer to offer a skylight listed with the National Fenestration Rating Council meeting the .30/.30 tax credit criteria. The company's ES Skylight frame is hybrid, combining its standard aluminum frame skylight with a drop-in PVC enhancement panel frame that extends down into the daylight opening.

Fortune Brands is merging its Fypon Ltd. business with Therma Tru Doors, its sister company, according to a company release. The Fypon brand name will continue to be used, but many of the synthetic millwork manufacturer's operations in Archbold, Ohio, will be moved to Therma Tru facilities in Ohio and Indiana.

Owens Corning is launching the Innovision fiberglass window line, said to feature the first fully bonded frame and sash in the industry manufactured without mechanical fasteners. Andersen Corp. has agreed to dismiss a patent infringement lawsuit against W. L. Gore & Associates and Pella Corp. Under what is described as a mutually satisfactory settlement, Andersen has granted Gore a license to practice certain Andersen patents. According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, Richard Gillman, CEO of Republic Windows & Doors was released from jail last Friday following a bail reduction.
The initial bail was set at $10 million, but that figure was cut in half on the condition that Gillman be placed on electronic monitoring. The former window executive was required to post 10 percent, or $500,000, to be released. more »

Joseph Millworks Inc., a custom manufacturer of wood windows and doors, is getting a $500,000 grant and a $2.2 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help construct a a 3 MW wind farm, according to a news release from Oregon's two U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.
