The principals of ProVia Door are purchasing the assets of Heartland Building Products, the siding business that was once part of the Jancor Cos., which filed for bankruptcy protection last year. In addition to the Booneville, Miss., based siding company, the purchase includes two separate manufacturing facilities in Mississippi.

Ultrafab Inc. has signed a deal with Sealmax to distribute the Canadian company’s urethane foam seals to window and door manufacturers in the United States. The line of urethane foam seals will be marketed under the name of Pro-Lon in the U.S., officials note.

Facing a year-end deadline that could have forced the company into bankruptcy proceedings, Masonite International Inc. has entered into an extension of a forbearance agreement it reached with creditors in November. Under the new agreement, lenders have agreed not to exercise their rights against the door maker until the end of January.

Jeld-Wen Inc. laid off 20 percent of the production workforce at its Rantoul, Ill. window plant last Thursday. The company emphasized, however, that the move is a part of a normal annual workforce adjustment reflecting the seasonal dips in new home construction.
