Due to the saltwater environment of this home, coupled with severe winters, the architect wanted the look of wood, with the resiliency of vinyl.   This coastal Maine home is buffeted by northeasterly winds throughout the winter. Mathews Brothers supplied Clara Starrett windows for the home's addition. The series is included in the DOE R5 qualified products, and was able to meet thermal requirements with one pane of low-E in its triple-glazed configuration, maintaining high VLT and SHGC values. The project included casement, hung and a variety of geometric configurations.

The home incorporates multiple factory-mulled units, including a triple double-hung with triple transoms. All windows also feature flat casing, historic sill nosing and interior extension jambs.
