The new GC3000 Glass-Chek Pro measures the glass and airspace thickness of single, double and now triple pane windows from a single side, the supplier states. Other features include improvements and features that expand its capabilities in applications involving tinted glass, newer low-E coatings and suspended film. From EDTM, the device offers new low-E capabilities that enable it to identify the coated surface of a double pane window from one side, as well as the type of low e coating used, such as pyrolitic or sputtered and the number of silver layers used in sputtered coating. This makes the device extremely beneficial for companies that use multiple types of low-E coatings for their windows, and sometimes mix up the glass or can’t identify the window out in the field. For window replacement companies, this feature helps them select the proper low e to use in the replacement window, guaranteeing to their customer that the replacement window will offer similar energy benefits as the one being replaced.

EDTM will also be highlighting several new products that range from a variety of tin side detection meters to specialty applications units for anti-reflective coating. The supplier will also demonstrate its newest, lower-cost Low E Coating Detector that was introduced to the U.S. market earlier this year. At its booth, the supplier will once again offer scratch cards that offer a chance at free prizes, as well as product discounts of 10 to 50 percent off.

To be featured at GlassBuild, Protek ITwrap is a cohesive backed non-crosslinked (NXL) polyethylene wrap used to prevent scratches and minor impacts during shipping. Because it sticks only to itself, ITwrap is ideal for enveloping products such as handles, unfastened hardware and even entire windows, the supplier states. ITwrap is also available in cardboard and bubble wrap. Lamatek Inc. is also showing its Protek ALLwrap, a low-tack, residue-free, removable adhesive covering that sticks to any surface and is good for wrapping products like lift rails, decorative flanges and other products where enveloping is difficult. ALLwrap is available in kiss-cut pads or tapes.

The NanaWall WA67 aluminum-clad, wood-framed folding glass wall system is being launched by the manufacturer at GlassBuild. The product features argon-filled, low-E glass with triple glazing and foam, giving it a U-value of 0.17 and solar heat gain coefficient of 0.26, according to the company. These performance numbers enable the door to energy efficiency standards in the Northern United States and Canada, as well as Passive House Institute standards. The operable wall fits openings measuring from 3 feet to 39 feet and comes in more than 50 stacking configurations.

The new SI30000 Monster Wall System from Solar Innovations Inc. enables the company to provide even larger panels that operate with greater ease in folding, sliding, and stacking door configurations. To be featured in Atlanta, the system accommodates panels up to 4 foot by 12 foot, with larger panels possible depending upon engineering criteria. Key to the new system is the frame, which is now 3 inches deep and uses upgraded dual wheel trolleys that allow for the operation of heavier panels, the company states. The system can consist of any number of panels from two to 20, depending on the customer’s preference. The folding glass wall system is available in in-swing or out-swing configurations, with individual operable panels. Another added benefit to this new system is the ability to add transoms, sidelites, and French or terrace doors within the SI30000 framework to creating a seamless transition across the wall.

Also being featured is the Timber Wall wood curtain wall system, designed for vertical, sloped, or integrated vertical and sloped applications. Thermally-broken aluminum profiles and positive
drainage principles make the Timber Wall a high performing green alternative when compared to traditional curtain wall systems. When compared to the traditional solid wood window walls, these wood curtain walls allow for greater spanning capability with the flexibility and strength of the glu-laminate wood, the supplier states. Offered in three different widths, the system can be supplied in solid mahogany or Spanish cedar and glu-laminates of Southern yellow pine, Western red cedar, Douglas fir and Northern white pine. Standard aluminum exterior finishes for the Timber Wall include white, bronze, Hartford green, black, sandstone, natural clay, and mill (unpainted), as well as dark bronze and clear anodized. Custom colors and wood species are also available.
