THE TALK...

What makes an outstanding product? User friendliness? Efficiency? Good value? Longevity? Any number of those variables and more come into play when dubbing a product as standing out from the pack.

In recognition of outstanding products, Window & Door is pleased to accept nominations for the 20th annual Crystal Achievement Awards through this Friday, June 14. Click here to access the nomination form.

The awards recognize residential window and door manufacturers and component suppliers for their contributions to the industry. The program includes five categories for manufacturers and four for suppliers; all products must have been introduced after April 2017 and must apply specifically to the residential market.

Our judges will review each entry based on judging criteria unique to each category, but there still are steps you can take to really make your entry pop.
  • Be specific, thorough and concise. Fill out all the fields even if they aren’t required.
  • Describe your entry with specific focus on unique and innovative elements. Don’t just copy product specs into the nomination form.
  • Avoid using marketing language such as “the best,” “truly unique” or “most advanced/innovations.” Rather, explain what is unique, what makes it the best and what makes it so advanced.
  • Video is powerful. Provide links to videos online or create videos and post them to YouTube.
  • Be creative with images. Go beyond straight product shots and show products being used or installed. Avoid submitting imagery with marketing copy overlaid on it.
  • Share your entry materials and descriptions with your colleagues and get feedback from them before filling out your nomination form.
If you have further questions about the awards, read our FAQ section. If you’d like to serve as a judge, email editor-in-chief Emily Thompson with that request, as well as a brief bio that describes your qualifications to be a Crystal Achievement Awards judge.

We are eager to see your nominations. Good luck!
