Packers or Steelers?

Every once in a while, we step outside of the realm of window and door-related topics to explore something that gives us a feel for our readers. Given that I'm not much of a football fan, I thought that would make me the best one (for impartiality's sake) to ask the question of the hour—Packers or Steelers?

Now I will admit that I'll be cheering for the Packers by default. My husband's grandfather played for Green Bay so we're a green and yellow house by blood. Mostly, I'm just glad for an excuse to make chili and watch the commercials.

Speaking of Super Bowl ads, I read that advertisers are coming out in full force on February 6th. The championship games got great audiences and network executives must be expecting an even better viewership for the big showdown.

I may be opening the proverbial can of worms, but after you vote in this week's poll, take a moment to comment or email me on why you're expecting your team to pull off a victory. What are your Super Bowl-watching traditions? And keep it clean or I'll definitely throw a flag on the play!

Big STEELERS fans here at Joseph Machine Co. in the heart of Pennsylvania. Go Gold and Black!

I had 50 yard line tickets for Green Bay Packers - Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl LXV.  As I sat down, a man came along and asked me if anyone is sitting in the seat next to me.

"No," I said, "the seat is empty."

"This is incredible,"  said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"

Somberly, the woman says, "Well, the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with

my husband, but he passed away.

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, that's terrible. But  couldn't you find someone else, a friend, relative or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

The woman shook her head and stated:  "No, they're all at the funeral."

As I am the football fan in our house, my husband sent me this joke with a comment stating that I better not go to a football game during his funeral. I told him, "Don't be silly, Honey. I'd never plan your funeral on a day there was football!"

Green Bay Packers all the way!

Really, people?? No one finds it necessary to talk any smack here whatsoever? I'm shocked!

Our poll is running neck-and-neck, or at least it's not a complete majority, with the Packers ahead.

Survey Results as of 02/1/2011:

This year's Super Bowl trophy will go to the:

Green Bay Packers

Pittsburgh Steelers

While none of our poll participants touched base directly to share with me why they voted for their team or what their Super Bowl traditions entail, I did hear from one woman who believes my husband's Green Bay Packer player and manager grandfather may be one of her relations. So while everyone else is watching the game, I might just be researching our family tree.

Hey, I warned you I wasn't a football fan! Enjoy the game.
