Have You Seen an Effect?

THE TALK... | Segments, Channels, Markets & Trends

No doubt it's too soon to tell what kind of impact EPA's lead paint rule will have on the remodeling business in general and the replacement window business specifically.  It's been less than two weeks since it became the law of the land.

But I couldn't help but wonder, has the new lead paint rule had an effect yet?  No doubt, it's having an impact on installation crews.  I'd love to hear from you how they're handling the change.I hope you'll email me and let me know.

I'm also interested if there's been any impact on sales yet.  That's our poll question of the week.  And, of course, I'd like to hear more details on that topic too.  If you sell to homeowners, have you stopped selling to pre-1978 homes or are you EPA certified and ready to go, and gaining such sales as a result?  Have you seen cases where the added costs of lead safe work practices have scared potential customers away?

If you don't sell to homeowners, what do you see?  Are lead-certified dealer and/or contractor customers picking up business? Are those that are not certified losing it?  Have you noticed anything?  Again, I hope you contact me to share any thoughts and observations.

Have You Noticed Effect of Lead Rule Yet?
