Who Will Buy?

THE TALK... | Sales & Marketing

Several times in the past year or two I've come across quite a bit of fodder on the generations in this country. The Baby Boomers are welcoming Generation X and Y, and even the Millennial generation (those born from the late 1970s to the early 1990s) into the workplace and the homebuyer market. And homeownership among immigrants has been increasingly rising ever since I started covering this industry.

I'm loving an article in the July issue of Builder Magazine, which addresses how builders and building products companies will have to adjust their marketing tactics to approach these buyers. A survey the magazine did, in conjunction with interviews, concludes that immigrants, Millennials and Baby Boomers will continue to drive home demand for quite some time. Taking some time to get to know these audiences may prove a worthwhile venture for window and door companies as we move into the next phase of our development.

Do you have a game plan for addressing these varied audiences? Does what you see in your business reflect these demographic changes? Our poll question is pretty general this week, but if you see demographic shifts affecting your company in some specific way, we'd love to hear about it. Please send me an email to share what you're seeing.

Are changing demographics affecting your business?
Yes, we're seeing a significant impact on all aspects of our business.
It's impacting our marketing efforts, but not much else.
I don't see it producing any major changes.
