Germany's Montag Enters U.S. Market

October 23, 2008

Montag Windows & Doors, a German manufacturer targeting the high-performance luxury market, opened its first marketing and distribution center in the U.S. in October in Roswell, Ga. From this location, the company plans to service the needs of architects, builders, developers and homeowners throughout the coastal impact market.

“Since 1728 Montag Windows & Doors has been an industry leader in Europe,” says Mitch Lewandowski, managing director. “As part of our international expansion, we felt that this was the right time to introduce our portfolio into the U.S. market. In addition to our Roswell base of operations, we will be working with a select group of dealers in key coastal impact markets.”

Founded in 1728 in the south German village of Biberach, Montag Windows & Doors has vastly grown from its days as a small workshop to a present-day state-of-the-art manufacturing operation, officials note. The company maintains a "tradition of master craftsmanship," creating fine all-wood high-performance luxury windows and doors, each fabricated with the highest quality, best-engineered operational hardware available, it is reported.

“In addition to offering products created from superior hardware and finishes, our products have undergone rigorous testing to ensure their functionality and property protection in the most severe weather conditions,” Lewandowski adds. “For instance, our hurricane rated products have been put through extensive lab testing and have achieved the highest certification standards in Miami-Dade County and in the State of Florida with industry leading impact design pressures.”

Montag's line includes pre-finished tilt-turn operable windows, fixed windows, French doors, and lift and slide doors in a wide variety of wood species, finishes and options. The company uses energy efficient, low-E insulating impact glass as standard, it notes.  More information is available at
