Guardian Completes Transition to Edgetech Super Spacer

January 23, 2009

Guardian Industries has transitioned from aluminum box spacers to Edgetech I.G. Super Spacer to improve the thermal performance and long-term durability of its residential IG units, the companies report.

“The NFRC and government regulators have raised the bar, and we are answering the call,” says Shane Sieracki, general manager for Guardian’s Webster, Mass. manufacturing plant. “Aluminum spacer for residential markets could no longer meet energy efficiency requirements, and it was time for a change."

Guardian Industries, which manufacturers IG units for the residential market, examined a number of spacer systems before making the switch. “We looked at all of the available options, and Super Spacer was the definite choice for us,” Sieracki adds. “Super Spacer provided us with the thermal performance and durability we required. We also couldn’t ignore that fact that our customers were asking for it by name.”

The changeover was officially completed in September 2008, and since then it has been going well, Sieracki reports.
