Masonite International Corporation was recognized by UL’s Building and Life Safety Technologies team as a leader in wood fire-rated door safety. The UL Dedication to Safety award program, in its first year, recognizes decades of commitment to third-party testing by forward-thinking manufacturers, according to a company release.

“We have worked side-by-side with Masonite for more than 40 years to help ensure opening solutions are created on which building occupants can rely,” says Christopher Hasbrook, vice president and general manager of the Building & Life Safety Technologies division at UL. “We appreciate Masonite’s continued commitment to UL certification and recognize their efforts to tackle today’s safety challenges.”

Masonite earned its first UL product certification more than 40 years ago, and the partnership has since resulted in numerous certifications of the extensive Masonite fire-rated door portfolio. Masonite was also selected for its proactive approach to safety. In addition to UL testing, Masonite also conducts product testing at its own fire lab and Innovation Center.

“Masonite has long strived to not only meet and exceed industry requirements, but to contribute to safer built environments as a whole,” says Angie Marcelli, director of marketing at Masonite Architectural. “We look forward to continuing to develop door opening solutions for architects and builders that are safe, beautiful and lasting.”
