PGT Cuts Workforce Again

March 17, 2009

PGT Industries, the Florida-based manufacturer has let go about 100 employees “from across all sectors and levels of the company,” in another round of lay-offs, the company reports.

“The further restructuring of our workforce was necessary given the continuing downturn in the economy and the severe housing crisis,” says Rod Hershberger, president and CEO of PGT. “We are grateful for all of the contributions made by the affected employees. All of those affected were given severance packages.”

The majority of the affected employees are in Florida. In earlier restructuring efforts, PGT cut about 10 percent of its then-workforce in January, and that job cut followed a March 2008 restructuring which reduced PGT's workforce by approximately 17 percent.
