Schilling Adds Illinois Facility

April 23, 2010

Schilling Lumber of Saint John, Ind., has completed its purchase of Edward Hines Lumber Co.’s former Mokena, Ill., facilities.  The acquisition allows Schilling to better service its already strong and growing customer base in Chicago’s south and west suburbs, officials report.

Founded in 1945, Schilling is a family-owned and -operated company with two lumber yards and one distribution center serving the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area.  It acquired the former Grand Rapids Sash & Door distribution center in Cedar Lake, Ind., in 2006.

In February, US LBM acquired Edward Hines Lumber Co. and said it planned to re-open the former Hines facility in Mokena. In announcing the Mokena purchase today, Schilling officials note that the previous US LBM Holdings press release was incorrect.
