Silver Line to Close Massachusetts Plant

May 26, 2009

Silver Line Windows, an Andersen Co., is closing its vinyl window plant in Fall River, Mass., in July.  "Unfortunately, due to the continuing economic crisis and its impact on housing as well as our own business, we still have more manufacturing capacity than we need for the foreseeable future," states Maureen McDonough, director of corporate communications for Andersen Corp.

Silver Line opened the 200,000-square-foot Fall River facility, which serves the New England region, in 2004.  Its closing follows a number of other cutbacks at Silver Line last year, including a workforce reduction at its Texas plant and the closing of a North Carolina plant.

Acquired by Andersen in 2006, Silver Line continues to operate its 880,000-square-foot headquarters plant in North Brunswick, N.J., along with facilities in Georgia, Illinois, Ohio and Texas.
