April 27, 2012

A newly-posted “Old House, New Door & More” video from Therma-Tru Doors provides step-by-step instructions on the removal of the door on a 100+ year old home and its replacement with an energy-efficient fiberglass entry door.

Licensed contractor Mark Clement offers insights on the removal of the older door, lead-safe practices and tips for installing a new Classic-Craft Canvas Collection door. In addition to the Therma-Tru door, he uses a Fypon urethane crosshead and mouldings to enhance the entryway surround.

“Remodeling older homes is always a challenge, especially if you want them to retain their period charm while being upgraded with today’s most energy efficient products,” says Clement, who is host of MyFixItUpLife, a radio show. “This video showcases the exact steps contractors can use to easily swap out an entry door on an older home and add urethane trim to accent that new entryway.”

The YouTube video, which appears below, is designed to educate contractors on the exact steps necessary to successfully enhance an opening and install a fiberglass entry door. The door manufacturer also offers written instructions for installation and troubleshooting guides online.
