The Association of Millwork Distributors opens the doors this week for its 45th annual convention and exposition at the Marriott Rivercenter and Henry Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio.  This year marks the first time the event is open to all industry participants, not just AMD members.

"AMD has a reputation for creating a quality event and making registration open to professionals in the housing and building prduct industries allows our association to step up during this economy and, literally, open some doors for opportunity,” said Rosalie Leone, in originally announcing the change. The decision appears to have attracted more exhibitors to the trade show than were initially scheduled to be at the event.  About 75 companies are now scheduled to be in San Antonio, with manufacturers of doors and door components accounting for most of the activity.

The event kicks off today with committee meetings and educational sessions.  Tomorrow features a full day of educational meetings, with the trade show beginning Friday and running through Sunday.

For more information on the event, see Window & Door's preview coverage from the September issue.  A full list of exhibitors, as well as additional information about the event, can also be found on the AMD Web site.
